- Affidavit (คำให้การ)

คือเอกสารคำให้การที่เป็นลายลักษณ์อักษร ซึ่งผู้ให้การ (เรียกว่า "Affiant") ได้สาบานตนหรือให้คำปฏิญาณต่อหน้าผู้มีอำนาจตามกฎหมาย (เช่น Notary Public) ว่าข้อความทั้งหมดในเอกสารนั้นเป็นความจริงทุกประการ Affidavit จึงมีน้ำหนักทางกฎหมายสูงและใช้เป็นหลักฐานในชั้นศาลหรือในการทำธุรกรรมต่างๆ
A written statement of facts, made voluntarily, and confirmed by the oath or affirmation of the party making it (the "Affiant"), taken before an officer having authority to administer such oath, such as a Notary Public.
- Apostille (ตราประทับรับรอง Apostille)

คือตราประทับรับรองชนิดพิเศษตาม "อนุสัญญากรุงเฮก" (Hague Convention of 1961) ใช้รับรองเอกสารราชการเพื่อให้นำไปใช้ในประเทศสมาชิกอื่นๆ ได้ทันทีโดยไม่ต้องผ่านการรับรองจากสถานทูตของประเทศนั้นๆ อีก ประเทศไทยไม่ได้เป็นสมาชิกอนุสัญญานี้ ดังนั้นเอกสารไทยจึงไม่สามารถขอ Apostille ได้ แต่ต้องใช้กระบวนการ "Legalization" (นิติกรณ์กรรม) ที่กรมการกงสุลแทน
A special certificate attached to a document, authenticating it for use in foreign countries that are parties to the Hague Convention of 1961. Thailand is not a member, so documents must undergo the "Legalization" process instead.
- Attestation (การรับรองลายมือชื่อ)

คือหนึ่งในหน้าที่หลักของ Notary Public เป็นการกระทำที่ Notary Public เป็นพยานและยืนยันว่าบุคคลที่ลงนามในเอกสารได้มาปรากฏตัวและลงนามต่อหน้าตนจริง Notary Public จะตรวจสอบเอกสารยืนยันตัวตนของผู้ลงนามก่อนเสมอ การ Attestation ไม่ได้รับรองความถูกต้องของเนื้อหาในเอกสาร แต่รับรองความถูกต้องของ "การลงนาม" เท่านั้น
The act of witnessing a person sign a document. The Notary Public confirms the identity of the signatory and that the signature was made in their presence. Attestation does not certify the truthfulness of the document's content.

เป็นกระบวนการที่กว้างกว่า Attestation หมายถึงการพิสูจน์ว่าเอกสารหรือลายมือชื่อนั้นเป็นของแท้ ในบริบทของ Notary Public มักหมายถึงกระบวนการทั้งหมดที่ Notary ทำเพื่อยืนยันตัวตนของผู้ลงนามและรับรองการลงนามนั้น ส่วนในบริบทของกรมการกงสุล จะหมายถึงการตรวจสอบและรับรองตราประทับและลายมือชื่อของ Notary Public อีกทอดหนึ่ง
The process of verifying that a document or signature is genuine. In the notary context, it's the entire process of verifying identity and notarizing. In the context of legalization, it refers to a government authority verifying the Notary's signature and seal.

- Certified True Copy (การรับรองสำเนาถูกต้อง)

คือการที่ Notary Public ทำสำเนาจากเอกสารต้นฉบับ หรือตรวจสอบสำเนาที่ลูกค้านำมาเทียบกับต้นฉบับ แล้วรับรองว่า "สำเนานี้ตรงกับต้นฉบับทุกประการ" ทำให้สำเนานั้นสามารถใช้อ้างอิงทางกฎหมายได้ในหลายกรณีโดยไม่ต้องใช้เอกสารตัวจริง
A process where a Notary Public verifies that a copy of an original document is a true and complete reproduction of the original.

- Jurat (คำท้ายคำสาบาน)

คือข้อความที่ Notary Public เขียนไว้ท้ายเอกสารประเภท Affidavit หรือเอกสารที่มีการสาบานตน โดยระบุว่าผู้ลงนามได้มาสาบานตนและลงนามต่อหน้า Notary Public ณ สถานที่และวันที่ที่ระบุไว้จริง โดยทั่วไปมักมีข้อความว่า "Sworn to and subscribed before me this [day] of [month], [year]."
The clause at the end of an affidavit showing when, where, and before whom it was sworn. It typically reads, "Sworn to and subscribed before me this [day] of [month], [year]."

- Legalization (นิติกรณ์กรรม)

คือกระบวนการที่หน่วยงานภาครัฐ (ในประเทศไทยคือ กรมการกงสุล กระทรวงการต่างประเทศ) ทำการรับรองตราประทับและลายมือชื่อของเจ้าหน้าที่ผู้มีอำนาจ หรือในกรณีนี้คือรับรองตราประทับและลายมือชื่อของ Notary Public อีกทอดหนึ่ง เพื่อให้เอกสารนั้นเป็นที่ยอมรับอย่างเป็นทางการโดยรัฐบาลต่างประเทศ เป็นขั้นตอนที่ต้องทำหลังจากผ่านการรับรองจาก Notary Public แล้วสำหรับเอกสารที่จะนำไปใช้ในประเทศที่ไม่ได้เป็นสมาชิกอนุสัญญาเฮก
The process by which a government authority (in Thailand, the Department of Consular Affairs) authenticates the signature and seal of a Notary Public on a document, so that the document is officially recognized by a foreign government.

- Notarial Act (นิติกรรมที่ทำโดยโนตารี)

คือการกระทำใดๆ ที่ Notary Public ปฏิบัติตามอำนาจหน้าที่ของตน เช่น การรับรองลายมือชื่อ (Attestation), การรับรองสำเนาถูกต้อง (Certified True Copy), การทำคำสาบาน (Administering an Oath) และการทำคำให้การ (Taking an Affidavit) เป็นต้น
Any act that a Notary Public is empowered to perform, such as administering oaths, taking affidavits, and certifying copies.

A lawyer licensed by the Lawyers Council of Thailand to act as an impartial witness in the execution of documents to ensure their authenticity for international use.

- Oath (คำสาบาน)

คือคำปฏิญาณตนอย่างเป็นทางการต่อหน้า Notary Public ว่าข้อความที่ให้การนั้นเป็นความจริง การให้การเท็จภายใต้คำสาบานถือเป็นความผิดทางอาญา
A solemn, formal declaration or promise to tell the truth, made before a Notary Public. Making a false statement under oath is a criminal offense.

- Power of Attorney (หนังสือมอบอำนาจ)

เอกสารทางกฎหมายที่บุคคลหนึ่ง ("ผู้มอบอำนาจ" หรือ Principal) มอบอำนาจให้บุคคลอื่น ("ผู้รับมอบอำนาจ" หรือ Agent) ไปกระทำการแทนตนในเรื่องที่ระบุไว้
A legal document that gives one person (the "Principal") the power to act for another person (the "Agent").

คือตราประทับประจำตัวของ Notary Public ซึ่งมีข้อมูลสำคัญ เช่น ชื่อ และหมายเลขทะเบียน ตราประทับนี้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่แสดงว่าเอกสารได้รับการรับรองโดย Notary Public อย่างเป็นทางการ
An official stamp used by a Notary Public to authenticate a notarial act. It contains key information like the notary's name and registration number.
- Signature Witnessing (การเป็นพยานในการลงลายมือชื่อ)
