Is NYC Translation & Notary Services Open Today?
Standard Operating Hours:
Monday to Saturday: 09:00 AM - 18:00 PM.
Sunday: Closed (Appointments available for urgent cases).
We monitor our digital channels (Line @NYCLI, Email [email protected]) every day. Note that on Thai Government Public Holidays (like Songkran or New Year), our office may close or operate on reduced hours, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) will definitely be closed. Please check our detailed 2026 Holiday Calendar below to avoid delays.
- Next Major Holiday: [Insert Next Holiday based on Jan 2026 Date]
- MFA Status: Closed on Sat-Sun and Public Holidays.
- Embassy Status: Check individual embassy calendars (often observe both Thai and Home Country holidays).
Reliability You Can Count On
Why We Are Open on Saturdays
Unlike government offices that close at 15:30 on Fridays, NYC understands that business doesn't stop. We are one of the few registered Notarial firms (Reg No: 0435567000061) open on Saturdays to accept your documents. While we cannot submit to the MFA on a Saturday, we can prepare the translation, notarization, and application forms so that your documents are at the front of the queue on Monday morning.
Meet Our Scheduling & Logistics Team
Our team manages the complex dance between client deadlines and government opening hours.
Head of Operations
Oversees the master schedule. He coordinates with the MFA Legalization Division to anticipate closures and system maintenance periods.
Urgent Case Manager
Specializes in "Emergency Notarization" for clients with last-minute flight departures or expiring visas. She manages the weekend appointment roster.
Embassy Liaison
Tracks the holiday calendars of over 50 Embassies in Bangkok. He ensures that a "US Holiday" or "Chinese Holiday" doesn't surprise our clients.
Land Dept Coordinator
Knows that the Land Department queues start at 6 AM. He advises clients on the best days (avoiding end-of-month) to transfer property.
Court Date Manager
Monitors court schedules. He ensures that affidavits and evidence are notarized and submitted well before court submission deadlines.
Corporate Deadline Keeper
Tracks DBD filing deadlines (e.g., Annual Audits). She ensures corporate clients get their documents notarized before statutory fines kick in.
Legal Knowledge Hub: Calendars & Planning
Timing is everything in legal processes. Here is how to plan your 2026.
1. The "Double Holiday" Problem
Expats often forget that Embassies observe TWO calendars: Thai holidays and their own national holidays. For example, the US Embassy is closed for Songkran (Thai) AND Thanksgiving (US). The French Embassy closes for Bastille Day. This can reduce the number of working days in a month significantly. Always check the specific Embassy's website before planning your legalization run.
2. MFA Legalization Timelines
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) at Chaeng Watthana operates strictly Mon-Fri. They close on ALL Thai public holidays.
- Normal Service: Submit Day 1, Collect Day 3-4 (working days).
- Express Service: Submit before 09:30, Collect same day (Quota limited).
If a holiday falls on a Friday or Monday, the backlog on the next working day is massive. We advise avoiding the days immediately following a long weekend.
3. Songkran (Thai New Year) - The Big Shutdown
Songkran (April 13-15) is the longest holiday. Government offices, including Immigration and MFA, often close for 3-5 days. In reality, productivity slows down for the entire week. If your visa expires in mid-April, you MUST submit your renewal in late March or very early April. Do not wait until the last minute before Songkran.
4. New Year (December/January)
Similar to Songkran, the New Year period sees a 4-5 day government shutdown. Embassies are also busy with staff holidays. If you need a police clearance or legalized degree for a job starting in January, start the process in November.
5. The "Immigration Queue" Effect
The day after a holiday, Immigration offices are chaotic. Queues can start at 4 AM. NYC's visa team helps you book online appointments where possible, or we deploy staff to queue on your behalf so you don't have to stand in the heat for hours.
6. Saturday Notary Services
While government offices are closed, NYC is open. Saturday is the perfect day to:
- Bring original documents for verification.
- Consult with a lawyer (by appointment).
- Sign wills or contracts.
We process the internal work on Saturday so it is ready for submission the moment the government opens on Monday.
7. Lunch Breaks
Government offices close strictly for lunch (12:00-13:00). Embassies often have very short submission windows (e.g., 08:30-10:30 only). Missing this window means waiting another day. NYC's team knows these micro-schedules by heart.
8. Digital Availability
Even when our physical office is closed (Sundays/Late Night), our Line (@NYCLI) and Email are monitored. You can send scans for quotation or ask urgent questions. We will respond with a plan of action for the next working hour.
9. Royal Ceremonies
Thailand has specific holidays for Royal ceremonies (e.g., Coronation Day, Queen Mother's Birthday). These dates are strictly observed by government bodies. Road closures around royal venues (like near the Grand Palace) can also affect travel time to certain ministries.

WARNING: The "Overstay" Trap
Holidays are not an excuse for overstaying your visa.
- No Grace Period: If your visa expires on a Sunday or a Holiday, you generally must renew it on the Friday before. Waiting until Monday will result in an "Overstay" fine (500 THB/day) and an unsightly stamp in your passport.
- 90-Day Reporting: You can report 15 days before or 7 days after. Do not leave it to the last day if a holiday is approaching.
- MFA Delays: If you need a legalized document to renew your visa (e.g., marriage cert), remember the MFA closes on holidays. If the MFA is closed, you can't get the stamp, and you can't renew your visa. Plan 3 weeks ahead.
Don't let a calendar error ruin your legal status. Check dates with us.
Success Stories: Beating the Clock
How we help clients navigate scheduling crises.
Case 1: The Songkran Emergency
Client: Teacher needing a police clearance for a new job starting May 1.
Problem: Applied late March. Songkran closure loomed.
Solution: We utilized the "Urgent" police clearance service and pre-booked the MFA legalization slot for the first day after Songkran. Delivered April 28.
Outcome: Started job on time.
Case 2: Friday Visa Expiry
Client: Tourist visa expiring on a Saturday.
Problem: Immigration closed Sat/Sun.
Solution: We advised the client on Thursday. Prepared documents Friday morning. Queued at Immigration Friday afternoon.
Outcome: Extension granted, overstay avoided.
Case 3: US Embassy Appointment
Client: Needed a Notary appointment at the US Embassy.
Problem: Embassy fully booked for 3 weeks.
Solution: We advised that for their specific document (Thai Bank use), a Thai Notarial Attorney legalization (MFA chain) was an acceptable alternative. We processed it in 5 days.
Outcome: Client skipped the embassy wait.
Case 4: Weekend Contract Signing
Client: CEO flying in for 24 hours (Saturday only).
Problem: Needed to sign a JV agreement with Notary witness.
Solution: We arranged a Special Saturday Appointment at our office. Our Senior Attorney came in to witness the signing.
Outcome: Deal closed.
Case 5: Lost Passport on Holiday
Client: Lost passport during New Year break.
Problem: Needed police report translation for Emergency Travel Doc.
Solution: We accepted the scan via Line during the holiday. Translated it remotely. Had the certified copy ready for pickup the moment we opened.
Outcome: Client flew home.
